Founder and CEO – Peter Bakare
As a child, Peter Bakare’s passion was to create an animated TV show. He studied digital art, and his artwork was featured in the National Portrait Gallery. Success in animation meant understanding acting and scriptwriting. Peter threw himself into both and went on act on the London stage and in radio plays. He wrote for BAFTA winning TV show Skins. Peter took a break from media and entertainment to play volleyball, representing Team GB in the 2012 Olympic Games and in tournaments around the world, whilst continuing to draw in his spare time.
At age 23, Peter returned to university on a sports scholarship, to study animation. Whilst completing his studies he visited over 180,000 children in primary schools, delivering fitness and health sessions. Peter was concerned to observe that even though London had just hosted the biggest sporting event in the world, childhood obesity was on the rise. He noticed first-hand that increased use of digital technology was a factor in children’s sedentary lifestyles. Whilst each visit created a buzz of inspiration for the children, Peter knew that once he had left the school, old habits could quickly and easily return.
He had an idea: his animated characters could stay with the children and inspire them further! Combining his experience in entertainment, animation and Olympic sport, Peter created Nutri Troops to help as many children as he can.
